NOVEMBER 14

BURGLARY OF HABITATION 

At approximately 8:25 AM, a police officer was dispatched to the 4500 block of Westway Avenue in response to a reported burglary. The victim stated that between 3:00 PM on November 4 and 4:00 PM on November 10, an unknown suspect had entered her home through an unlocked door and committed a theft. The victim and her husband had been out of town when their daughter stopped by and realized several designer purses were missing. When the victim and her husband returned home on November 13, they confirmed that several items had been stolen and reported the burglary to the police. 

INFORMATION REPORT 

A police officer responded to the Whole Foods in the 4100 block of Lomo Alto Drive at approximately 4:51 PM in response to a reported shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, the police officer confirmed that the suspect had stolen something and placed him in handcuffs. 

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

At approximately 6:10 PM, an officer was dispatched to the HPDPS lobby to deal with a reported FLID accident. The victim stated that at about 5:10 PM, he had been driving his vehicle down Mockingbird Lane approaching Hillcrest Drive when a vehicle attempted to change lanes near him. The other driver struck the victim's vehicle, then left without leaving any sort of identification or contact information. The victim followed the suspect and recorded the license plate number, which the police used to look up and confirm the vehicle's owner. 


NOVEMBER 15

THEFT OF PROPERTY 

An officer was dispatched to a reported theft of jewelry that occurred in the 3100 block of St. Johns at approximately 3:45 PM. The victim stated that between June 30 and August 23, an unknown subject removed four pieces of jewelry from an upstairs bathroom drawer. An ex-housekeeper was deemed the prime suspect since her last day of work and the date the victim realized the jewelry was missing coincided. Attempts to contact the ex-housekeeper were unsuccessful, so police told the victim to report any more developments. 


NOVEMBER 18 

DAMAGE TO PRIVATE PROPERTY 

At 10:30 AM, an officer was dispatched to a report of a minor accident in the alley behind 3500 Drexel Drive. A pickup truck was observed to have a flat front left tire and was leaking transmission fluid. The vehicle was near an open construction hole in the alley, and the driver stated that he had hit something while driving which caused damaged to his tire and transmission pan. He believed the sign marking the construction hole had been blown over or moved. 

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE 

An officer responded to the employee parking lot of the Highland Park Village at approximately 6:34 PM to investigate a report of an accident in which the responsible party did not leave the lawfully required identification information. The victim stated that she returned to her damaged vehicle to find a note attached to her windshield. The note stated that a witness had seen someone hit her vehicle and had taken photos of the suspect's vehicle. Police called the note writer and recorded the relevant information. 


NOVEMBER 19 

IDENTITY THEFT 

At 11:07 AM, a police officer responded to a report of identity theft in the 4500 block of Rheims Place. The victim stated that he became aware of the identity theft on September 26 and believes it is relevant to the breach of one of the major credit companies. He has received statements from different companies in regards to recently opened accounts or inquiries made under his name. The victim was told he must file a police report and has now frozen his credit as a precaution.
