Texas CARES Cat Adoption and Rescue are celebrating 30 years on June 22, 2023. Texas CARES was Incorporated on June 22, 1993, by Marjorie Murphy. Texas CARES was founded when the McKinney SPCA and Dallas SPCA merged to become the SPCA of Texas. Texas CARES was the first "cat only" adoption group in DFW for several years. Texas CARES is a registered 501c3 nonprofit and is an all-volunteer foster-based cat rescue.
Over the past 30 years, Texas CARES has rescued and found homes for approximately 250 cats and kittens a year. Texas CARES rescues cats from shelters, and those in need of surrendering their cats, across all areas of DFW. Texas CARES has also assisted with cats coming from environmental disasters like Hurricane Katrina, as well as hoarding cases.
Texas CARES long-time volunteer and foster, Suzanne Weaver says…” I care for all animals, but my love for cats is unsurpassed. My dream of making their lives better has been a lifelong passion. Without Texas Cares, that would have been an insurmountable goal. I am so pleased to have been in the right place at the right time for that to have happened. It was thirty years ago, and I have loved every moment of my involvement with Texas Cares! It has given me such joy to be a part of helping so many hundreds of kitties find their perfect forever homes, all thanks to Texas Cares!”
Texas CARES will be celebrating its 30th Birthday throughout the month of June including launching a new logo and website. Texas CARES will also be offering adoption specials all month with all cat adoptions for $130. And pairs of kittens for $230.
Texas CARES is proud of its relationships with Veterinary Partners across North Texas who care for all rescued cats and kittens ensuring they get the medical care they need prior to adoption.
